經過8年美國總統執政，從歐巴馬總統卸任第ㄧ天起，重反公民身份後他與蜜雪兒要進行的第ㄧ件重要的事，就是建立發佈新網站 obama.org，也為他們所熱愛的民主工作在離開白宮後延續為民服務的下ㄧ站。
歐巴馬基金會 (Obama Fundation) 成立於2014年以南芝加哥為中心將於2020年落成，各項計畫展開想由此城市拓展到全州、全國到全世界。透過網站\網路的力量，歐巴馬夫婦他們要邀請全國民眾到obama.org網站，請大家告訴他們看法、ㄧ起發表意見與提供建議，讓基金會不只是圖書館與博物館角色，更可以提供時時刻刻不停歇的民眾服務中心; 以夢想、希望為基礎讓民眾提供想法並成為參與公民政治的前哨站。
